Julian Mercer Awarded the NCC Janet Sprickman Scholarship for 2018

Each year, the American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation receives hundreds of applications from around the globe. In 2018, the ASSE Foundation Scholarship and Grant awarded a record-breaking $377,925 in 139 scholarship and grant awards to 117 individuals.

NCC March Meeting Recap: Lunch & Learn

Our March meeting featured member driven content.  It allowed the National Capital Chapter of ASSE members in attendance to bring up and discuss items and questions they wanted to share with their peer allowing for us to learn from the best practices, experiences, and education of others. 

Now Accepting Nominations: NCC-ASSE SPY Award

The National Capital Chapter of ASSE is now accepting nominations for our Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award.  The SPY award is an honor acknowledging the dedication and outstanding contributions of one National Capital Chapter member.

The recipient receives recognition through our chapter communications channels and national ASSE SPY website, as well as an engraved Bronze statue that will be presented at our June chapter meeting / Annual Awards Banquet and Officer Installation Dinner.

NCC December Meeting Recap: Active Shooter Response

At the National Capital Chapter’s December meeting, members learned how to respond during an active shooter incident.  The Active Shooter Response Training was provided in conjunction with Serve DC – The Mayor’s Office of Volunteerism.

Chapter Bylaws Update December 2017

As we continue to transition to operating under the new name of the American Society of Safety Professionals, the National Capital Chapter Executive Committee have made the following proposed updates to our Bylaws to reflect these changes. The updates consist of 1) the name change to the American Society of Safety Professionals, and 2) minor editorial revisions.

In order for these proposed updates to be finalized a vote must be held among Chapter Members. Please take some time to review the attached proposed updated Bylaws. On February 1, an electronic survey will be sent to our Chapter Members asking whether Member accept or decline the proposed updates. An email will be sent to all Members announcing this vote.
