If selected for this position, you will provide occupational safety and health oversight to one or more Institutes or Centers or special programs of the NIH. You will evaluate and recommend action for correcting potential hazards and minimizing risks associated with the conduct of biomedical research and related support activities.
Specifically, you will schedule and conduct surveys of research laboratories, patient care areas, animal care facilities, shops, physical plant, construction and renovation projects, offices, and other work areas for the purpose of identifying potential hazards; determine extent to which work practices and procedures and physical conditions comply with required or accepted standards and established safety policies and procedures; prepare reports and develop specific guidance for actions necessary to affect deficiencies; conduct investigations of incidents involving personal injury, illness, or property damage; perform environmental monitoring and conduct surveillance programs to assess the quality of the work environment relative to unsafe conditions; and instruct employees and management on a variety of occupational safety and health subjects including chemical, biological, physical, industrial, animal care and use, office safety issues, various safety requirements, and critical facility or equipment needs.

CTC is seeking a qualified professional to support the DoD client in implementing OSHA VPP program and to assist in the development and writing of Safety and Occupational programs and procedures. In addition the candidate will conduct work for the Voluntary Protection Program Center of Excellence (VPP CX) sponsored by DoD. The Mission of the VPP CX is to assist a DoD activity in achieving Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star status.
