Ok, who’s ready for some warmer weather?
We have some important training events coming up. On February 22-25, we have a joint PDC with ACHMM for Hazardous Materials. On March 25th, we have our popular Annual OSHA Update ½ PDC at the Department of Labor. Check our website for more information. With NAOSH week approaching in May, don’t forget about the 8th Annual ASSE Kids “Safety on the Job” poster contest.
As you may know, Chesapeake Chapter is the host for this year’s ASSE National Conference in Baltimore. They are looking for volunteers to help with various activities. You can get more information on their website at www.chesapeakeasse.org, or email Bob Lawson at rllawson2@verizon.net. Also, the Planning Committee for the joint PDC with Chesapeake Chapter on March 11th has decided to cancel this event due to Chesapeake’s involvement in the June conference.
Your Chapter Officers had a conference call recently to coordinate upcoming events and discuss Chapter administrative issues. One subject was the need to make some revisions to the current Chapter By-Laws. We have posted the proposed revisions to the By-Laws on our website in the “About us” section. The proposed changes will be posted for 30 days, at which time we will send an email to members for a vote to approve the By-Laws, as revised. We will also be posting a request for nominations for this year’s Chapter SPY award. We are trying to make the process easier for members to nominate a peer or themselves for this award. If you know of a deserving Member, or if you would like to nominate yourself, please look for more information on our website and in future emails or contact me at mkerns@sscw.com.
Sincerely,
Mike Kerns
President
